If it's an EXE, it's probably a virus. version 6.42 and newer have built in filters to stop downloading these files. Typically the files are too small to be true. If you're downloading something that should be 300 megs and you see if listed there as 50 megs, it's a pretty good bet that it's not what it claims to be. I use size filters to hide most of this.
I'd never run an EXE I downloaded off usenet. Well, not unless it was inside a disposable VM.
