I like to pose this question to see if others have noticed this or is it just me.
I have noticed through observation that my uncompressing operation via winrar is much slower in conjunction with Newsbin. Allow to me explain.
I “un” rar a file set and it took me approximately 20 minutes.
Then I unrar the same file set but this time I have Newsbin running as well. The same file set took over 4 hours.
I do not believe it is a memory issue. I have performed the same experiment with firefox and firefox consumes more memory. My firefox experiment also took 20 minutes.
Do Newsbin and winrar use similar processes and are thus competing for the same CPU resources? Would this explain the slowdown?
Don’t know if this information is needed but I have
winrar 3.2
newsbin 6.51
2GB RAM
WinXP
Thank you
