I'm not doing a web front end.
Making it remotely accessible is the same whether it uses a web front end or not. You still need to poke a hole in the firewall and allow incoming connections. Basically my thing will still have a windows/android app that remotely controls the engine running as a service. Both on Android (service running on your tablet) and on Windows. Depending on how you configure it. In fact, you'll be able to control the windows service with your android device.
